Exploring Two Types of Aggressive Behavioural Risk Factors among Illegal Motorcycle Street Racers in Malaysia

Illegal motorcycle street racing is a threat to civil society – it symbol of adolescents' inner rebellion who channelled their unfulfilled desire through aggressive behaviour on the road, causing significant social and economic impact. Aggressive behaviours have been associated with prohibited substances intake, lack religious knowledge, problematic family structures, school failure. In this qualitative study, abductive strategies oriented phenomenological approaches were employed assess two types risk factors, which substance abuse structures. In-depth interviews conducted thirty people in Penang, Malaysia, participated illegal racing, referred as Mat Rempits. Their responses analysed using NVivo software version 12. The results demonstrate three subthemes intake: relieve stress, for personal enjoyment, purposes, whereby drugs are taken before races riders be more courageous, aggressive, agile manoeuvring motorcycles. Meanwhile, factor problems includes divorced conflicted parents, raised by violence, being neglected, not appreciated family. Most participants stated that growing up violence caused psychological impact soul, making them stubborn, rude, aggressive. need specific intervention programme adolescent reduce involvement behaviour.
